ANTELOPE AYSO – REGION 884
COACH GUIDELINES
- NO ALCOHOL OR TOBACCO ON ANY AYSO FIELDS (school policy and ASYO policy).
- SHINGUARDS MANDATORY! Children will not play or practice without shin guards. Socks are to be worn over the shin guards. No sweat pants are to be worn on the field except for the keeper. Long sleeved shirts may be worn under the jersey if they are the same color.
- No volunteer should cut a child’s fingernails; only the parent or the child may do so.
- SAFE HAVEN: Do not be left alone on the field with a child. Ask a parent, ass’t coach or team parent to stay with you until that child is picked up. Do not leave children alone on the field, even older players. Use common sense regarding practices and good judgment in dealing with children. If unsure, error on the side of caution.
- If games are rained out, teams have the option of playing a scrimmage game during the week by calling the coach of the team they were scheduled to play. Rain out number is the Voice Mail 491-2529. We do not make the decision to cancel due to weather until Saturday morning unless the fields are so wet on Friday we cancel because of that. Please use the Voice Mail number or wait until a head coach calls you as personal lines will be tied up.
- Under 6 is 5v5 with no keeper. Under 8 is 6v6 with no keeper. Under 10 is 9v9 with no keeper. AYSO recommends this as the best program for the players and we also want to do the best for our 8 and 9 year olds.
- The Regional Tournament will be in November. If we are rained out, we will not play the AREA tournament but the Regional on next weekend. If the Regional Tournament is not rained out, teams will advance to the Area Tournament. Tournament is for U10, U12, U14 and U16/19. Under 8s will play on that day also (one game). U6 will not play on Regional Tournament day as they had game days in August.
- Goalkeeper shirts to be handed out to U12, U14 and U16/19 coaches.
- Please return equipment and safety kits at the end of this year so we can inventory and get you new supplies without purchasing unnecessary items. Equipment should be turned in at the Tetotom Snack Bar on your last game day.
- Snack Bar available at Tetotom and will be main site to pick up information regarding trophies, etc.
- Schedules. If any errors or changes are noted, please call immediately. Do not wait until that game day. If for some reason, your team cannot make a game, please let us know so we can contact the other team and modify the schedule.
- FIELD SET UP. Both teams who play the first game on a field are responsible for set up of the goals/field box and last teams scheduled on that field need to take down the goals/field box. Please arrive half an hour before your game starts if you are to set up goals. Goals will be in the storage lockers. U6 to U10 at Tetotom Locker at Bathrooms; Lone Oak & Center Jr. High at Lone Oak Locker at Lone Oak Bathrooms; Center High Varsity and U12 Girls Field 4 in small locker at North end of White Conex near the Small Baseball field near both fields at high school.
- PAINTING THE FIELDS. We have a core group of people who have been doing this but volunteers are always needed. As a coach you may be called upon to help or have your parents help. This is not a difficult job but board members are already swamped with coaching, refereeing, trophies, pictures, candy, etc. Please do not hesitate to volunteer. Call the Voice Mail if you are available for this important job.
- Our referee core is about 30 referees who are able to do Under 10 games and above. Due to work schedules, children’s events, out of town games, etc., they are not able to all do games every Saturday. We have over 100 teams with three referees needed on each game. As you can see the math does not work out. We cannot afford to lose the volunteer referees that we have. No yelling at referees will be allowed!. We lose some every year because of this and this is a shame. We are the adults, we are the role models and this is a soccer game on a Saturday. Please keep things in perspective and realize the referees are doing the best they can. The referee and coach should be a team to make the game a safe and fun experience for all. THIS IS A KIDS ZONE ZERO TOLERANCE PROGRAM, YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE FOR BAD BEHAVIOR.
- THREE QUARTER RULE IN ANTELOPE. Basically this means no player plays four quarters until all have played three. We monitor the game cards to check for this, but the best way is still the parents. They call when their children do not get playing time so remember, children learn skills by playing the game.
- HAVE A GOOD TIME AND THANK YOU FOR VOLUNTEERING!
